Why We Climb
Trailmixer promotes equity, access and inclusion through climbing events every year. We seek to raise funds for LGBTQ+ youth organizations.
Since 2013, our climbers have raised tens of thousands of dollars for multiple charities, including “The Trevor Project” and “The Alzheimer’s Association”. This year, we are supporting Camp Brave Trails, a summer camp for LGBTQ kids with locations in California and Maryland. We are helping fund scholarships to underserved kids from all around the nation who would otherwise not be able to join a summer camp.
Brave Trails is more than just your average summer camp. While BT has a lot of elements of a typical camp, their main focus is helping campers grow into the brave leaders they are destined to be. The camp program focuses on four key elements: Leadership, Community Building, Self Realization, and Service. They use workshops, adventure, creative programming, service projects, peer connections, and positive role models to create a safe space where youth can thrive. With the skills learned at camp, campers will be primed to thrive in their schools, workplace, and personal life. In addition, campers will have the knowledge and confidence to be more impactful leaders and implement innovative social change in their communities.
