How your donations at work: 2019 and 2020
In 2019 and 2020, proceeds from the Trailmixer events were awarded to the scholarship program at Camp Brave Trails, an LGBTQ+ youth summer leadership camp.
2019 funds were intended to be used for scholarships for summer 2020, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Camp Brave Trails pivoted to an online camp program. $300 was used for scholarships to help two low-income youth attend Brave Trails' online camp. $2,500 has been set aside for the Staff POC (Person of Color) Stipend for Summer 2021 with Trailmixer’s permission, in order to better serve their campers of color.
Thus far, 52* scholarships have been awarded for Summer 2021!
Total amount awarded so far for Summer 2021: $35,902*.
* These numbers are likely to increase once we get the final report from Camp Brave Trails. Not all scholarships have been awarded yet. As of this spring, there are still a few campers left in the queue for admittance, so further financial aid may have been awarded. Due to the shortened sessions for 2021, the final amount of aid awarded may not equal the total gift amount. If this is the case, Camp Brave Trails will hold over any remaining funds to be awarded for the summer 2022 session.
Out of the 52 scholarships awarded, 20 have been awarded to campers of color. Financial aid for these campers has proved critical.
