What We Do
We are climbers… with a cause.
In 2013, a few of us hikers came together to raise money for organizations with important missions, like The Trevor Project and Alzheimer's Association. While on the trail, we talked about our experiences growing up as LGBTQ+ teenagers - when there were no outdoor programs designed for kids like us. There was no safe place for us to grow and be ourselves. We wondered how we might uplift and empower our community by sharing our love of nature. We created Trailmixer in 2018 - an organization committed to providing fun, safe and inclusive outdoor adventures for all of us.
We trek through beautiful terrain and climb incredible peaks, pushing beyond perceived limits. Together, we build camaraderie and confidence, while forging new partnerships, forever-friendships and personal highs. Everyone can participate, by attending one of our events or helping raise money for the Trailmixer's OUTdoor Access Fund.
Our Mission
Trailmixer - OUT Hiking for Our Community, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization of hikers and climbers who actively seek to support underserved LGBTQ+ youth, ages 12-24, in the greater Los Angeles area. We create access to safe, inclusive and educational experiences to foster environmental stewardship and opportunities to thrive outdoors. We're united to make change, test our personal limits and build an engaged, empowered community. We strive for the betterment of all people - by coming together in nature.
Trailmixer is OUT hiking to create a world where folks of all ages in the LGBTQ+ community have every opportunity to thrive in the outdoors.
