Trailmixer is a community of hikers who climb mountains to raise money for the Trailmixer OUTdoor Access Fund. Benefitting underserved LGBTQ+ youth, the funds we raise pay for leadership program scholarships and events that provide fun, safe access to the outdoors.

Your Donations at Work

Since our establishment in 2019, Trailmixer has raised over $115,000, enabling the TOAF to award 104 scholarships to low-income BIPOC and LGBTQ+ young adults. These scholarships pay for uplifting educational experiences that teach leadership skills and principles of environmental stewardship. With TOAF, we strive to build confidence and new relationships - while fostering a lifelong love of the outdoors.

2022

This year, Trailmixer completed two incredible fundraiser climbs to support our OUTdoor Access Fund. In June, we summited the highest peak in Southern California, Mount San Gorgonio in San Bernardino. In July, we trekked around Rae Lakes on a five-day backpacking trip in Kings Canyon. For our third and final fundraiser climb in August, we headed to Bend, Oregon to climb South Sister of the Three Sisters, continuing our tradition of climbing a volcano every other year. We've formed new partnerships - with the Patagonia teams at both the Pasadena and Santa Monica stores as well as Geffen Playhouse - and we continue to seek new partners and fundraising opportunities as Trailmixer grows.

2021

In 2021, TOAF awarded 52 scholarships to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth, granting access to outdoor and environmental leadership programs created by our four partner organizations.

2020 & 2019

In 2019 and 2020, the Trailmixer OUTdoor Access Fund supported Camp Brave Trails, Brave Trails' LGBTQ+ youth summer leadership camp. Our fundraising climbs paid for 52 scholarships totaling nearly $50,000.

Funds raised in 2019 were originally earmarked for Summer 2020 scholarships to Camp Brave Trails. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brave Trails pivoted to an online camp program. Of the original $50,000 awarded, $300 was used for two need-based scholarships to the online camp program, and $2,500 was set aside for the Staff POC (Person of Color) Stipend for Summer 2021.
