About the Event

The last week of May, if all goes according to plan with Jake’s travels, we are going to Hike into the Kings Canyon National Park backcountry to meet him. The stretch of the PCT to the west of Mt. Whitney in the SEKI national parks, is the longest stretch of the trail without a natural resupply, more than 160 miles! So we are planning to give him a hand, and bring him a food cache and gear replacements.

We will backpack up over Kearsarge Pass, el. 11,800 feet, and meet up somewhere in the vicinity of Bullfrog Lake, to Charlotte lake. A fairly straightforward hike, 7.5 miles, with a 3000 feet gain over the pass. Planning on two nights in the backcountry, three days total, one of which may be at the base of the Kearsarge Pinnacles, which I have always wanted to see! There is room for six people (so far) on this hike, and permits have already been acquired.
