Winter Solstice Hike - at Solstice Canyon

Meet at trailhead this Saturday, December 21 @ 9:30am. See more info below.

This Saturday is the Winter Solstice! So come on out to Solstice Canyon to end one year, and bring in the next.

We will be doing the combined Solstice/Rising Sun/Sostomo/Deer Valley double loop. A total of 6.3 miles, and 1811 feet in gain. Not too strenuous, but a pretty decent workout. Along the way we will see the ruins of the Robert's Ranch House "Tropical Terrace", the Solstice waterfall (if it's running) and a great ocean viewpoint at the top of the Deer Valley loop.

We will meet at the trailhead at 9:30. Carpooling is recommended, as parking is fairly scarce. Or get there a bit early. After the hike we can get lunch at Malibu Seafood! I'll bring a cooler of beer. :-) 27Q2+5X Malibu, California

Don't forget plenty of water! Also, this entire area was in the Woolsey Fire, so it will be interesting to see how the landscape has changed, and how many of the canyon's trees were able to survive.

Here's the All Trails map of our route:
